Release of Identity Donor Program

NECC’s Release of Identity Donor Program offers a way for children born from donated sperm to have contact with their biological fathers once they turn 18. This program is attractive to some parents who wish to provide a means for their children conceived through artificial insemination to learn more about their biological fathers, should they wish to at some point in the future.

How it works

When a donor enrolls with NECC, he may choose to be an anonymous donor or agree to have his identity released to any offspring born from his specimen.  Anonymous donors receive assurance that their identities will never be revealed.  Release of Identity donors agree to keep NECC updated on their contact information.  When children born from the sperm of Release of Identity donors turn 18, they may apply to NECC to start the contact process of obtaining information on their biological fathers.  The information is not released to anyone but the child, and never before the child reaches age 18.   

The donor determines the form of communication – email, phone or in-person. 

It is important to note that Release of Identity Donors, like Anonymous donors, are legally absolved of all legal responsibility for children born from their sperm. 

And while NECC will do everything possible to maintain contact with Release of Identity Donors, we cannot guarantee that contact will always be possible.
