I Already Have a Donor

Choosing a donor who is selected by you (a friend or a brother-in-law, for example) is a wonderful way of beginning the artificial insemination process. It’s important to realize, however, that even “selected” donors must submit to rigorous testing and screening.

To begin the process, your selected donor submits an application and a non-refundable application fee, which is reviewed by our medical staff. If the application is approved, the donor then visits our lab for a comprehensive physical performed by our staff MD. If there are no medical obstacles the donor will be scheduled at our lab to produce a specimen. At that time, the specimen is tested, analyzed, processed, and cryopreserved. All specimens are held in quarantine for 180 days. After quarantine, the donor is retested for infectious disease. Pending negative results, the donor’s specimen will then be cleared for release.

While the process may seem lengthy, it is designed to protect your safety and the health of your baby.
